Features — Handicap scoring

Net scoring, without the napkin math.

Handicaps are what make a 14 and a 4 a fair match, and what make trip scoring a headache. The 18 Club applies your allowance and calculates net results automatically, for pairs and teams.

Handicaps that start from real numbers

Each player registers their scoring average or handicap, so the field is built on actual data instead of a number someone half-remembers. The 18 Club derives each player’s strokes from that, so net results are consistent from the first tee.

When a player’s number changes, you update it in one place and every round that depends on it recalculates. No re-deriving strokes round by round.

Allowances you set per event

Not every trip plays full handicap. The 18 Club lets you set a handicap allowance per event, the same percentage knob committees use to tighten or loosen the field, and applies it everywhere automatically.

That one setting flows into every round and every format, so the allowance you agreed on at the planning stage is the one that actually runs on the course.

Net and gross, for pairs and teams

Gross is the raw score. Net subtracts each player’s allotted strokes. The 18 Club shows both at once, so the long hitters and the steady veterans can each see where they stand.

For team and pair formats, including scramble and best-ball, net is calculated at the pair or team level and rolled into the team total. It works the way a tournament committee would score it, with none of the by-hand arithmetic.

Common questions
How does The 18 Club calculate net scores?

Each player registers a scoring average or handicap. The 18 Club derives their strokes, applies your per-event handicap allowance, and subtracts them from gross to produce net results for pairs and teams automatically.

Can I change the handicap allowance for my event?

Yes. You set a handicap allowance percentage per event, and it applies across every round and format automatically. It is the same knob a tournament committee uses to tighten or loosen the field.

Does it handle team and scramble net scoring?

Yes. For pair and team formats, including scramble and best-ball, net is calculated at the pair or team level and rolled into the team total the way a committee would score it.

More of the toolkit

Even teams, foursomes, and tee times in a few clicks.

Building the tee sheet by hand is the job nobody volunteers for. The 18 Club balances your teams by handicap, generates foursomes, and lays out tee times in seconds. You can adjust any of it by hand.

Scores that show up a day late kill the competition. The 18 Club puts one live leaderboard in everyone’s pocket, with net, gross, team, and side rounds all updating the moment a hole is posted.
